Strange print problems with RedHat 6.1

Post by Madhu Bandiredd » Sun, 31 Dec 1899 09:00:00

Hi!
I have just installed Redhat 6.1 on 2 Intel PCs. Both are quite
similar in regards to what we installed. Both are also similarly
configured to print to the same remote printers (direct via TCP/IP to
TCP/IP enabled HP Laserjet IV/V printers) with the same settings. I can
print without any problems on system XXX.  But on system YYY whenever I
print something, the very first print job prints but once the file is
printed, the print queue gets stuck with a 0 byte file print job with
the same name and JOBID. The lpq comes up with the following error
message :
"No space on remote. Waiting for the queue to drain"

I have to clean up the print queue and restart the lpd to print one more

job. One more thing, for some strange reason this
system starts up 2 lpd daemons. I compared both the systems and could
not find any difference at all. The RC scripts,
file permissions on /var/spool/lp, /tmp, /var/tmp, /usr/bin, /usr/sbin,
/etc/printcap which might have anything to do, even remotely, look the
same.
Can someone help me resolve this conundrum?

Thanks in advance.
