Mouse doesn't work in X on RH 6.1

Post by David Moone » Sun, 31 Dec 1899 09:00:00

Red Hat 6.1

I can't get my mouse to work with X.
I've tried a MS Mouse 2.0A and a 2.1A both on my PS/2 mouse port and COM1 as
well as a noname serial mouse on COM1. Nothing seems to work.

What bothers me is that the mouse works properly during installation. Then I
try to startx when all is said and done and the mouse fails. When I get into
X the mouse just sits in the center of the screen and doesn't respond.

I've gotten a variety of errors from the various scenarios I've tried. In
the XF86Config file, what do you put for mouse device when using a PS/2
Mouse?

Thanks in advance.

Try rerunning mouseconfig and then startx.

Try to execute gpm before you run X. It's supposed to work with
text apps, but my doesn't work too, if gpm is not loaded.

Mouse doesn't work in X on RH 6.1

RH automagically found the mouse on a random reboot. It inserted the line
Protocol = "PS2" into my XF86Config file and all is well.

1. X-win32 doesn't work for RH 6.1!?

Client: NT 4 workstation + X-win32 4.01
Server: was RH 6.0 (running X-win32 4.01 from client by xdm works well),
now upgrade to RH 6.1.

The server's hardware parts keep the same, so do clients.

Now we run X-win32 4.01 from client side by using XDMCP(same way run
with RH 6.0), the error message is "XDMCP: Manager Unwilling: Host
Unwilling". I do 'xhost +' in the server side, get same error msg.

What happened? I have no idea at all, pls help me out!

BTW, I think RH 6.0 is better than 6.1, I am preparing downgrade to RH
6.0 or other distributions.

Welcome any suggesstion!!

Thank a lot! Pls also email me a copy.
