I need some good help on updating my XFree86 3.3.2 to 3.3.3 under
S.u.S.E. Linux 5.3
I am downloading the "XFree86-SuSE" RPMs now ? What is a EASY way to
install this ?
can YaST do this for me as an Up-Date ? any info would help......

? ? I assume "XFree86-SuSE" is what I need ? is this right ?
I am running kernel 2.0.36 with all the other updates from S.u.S.E.

the suse-servers are for some video-cards that normal XFree doesn't
support yet, so I don't think you'll need these.

What I did:

http://www.XFree86.org tells you where to find a local mirror.

Go there, download the README and the other documentation first. Read
that and decide what pieces you need (downloading everything works
too, but bloats your disk, uses valuable connection time etc etc) and
then download that. The documentation actually describes in quite a
lot of detail what to do when you have all the necessary pieces, and
it worked quite all right here.

Only my netscape-4.04 stopped working, so right now I'm downloading
4.08 to see if that's better.

Good luck,
Jurriaan

You can do this update via YaST. I did have to re-run sax after I did this
but it worked fine.

1. suse 6.1 XFree86 update

I have SuSe 6.1 on Celeron 500Mhz, 128 MbRAM and TNT2.
I tryied to update XFree86 ver 3.3.3.1 to 3.3.5 without success.
i was using update on CD after installing I have errror 111
and it goes to text terminal.
Maybe it is better to update from Suse Server, but I do not know wchich
files are needed? There is directory with updates but there are a lot of
files .rpm.
Wchich ones I should donwload.
