I have a new Blaster 6x CDROM drive. According to the tech support this
is a true IDE drive and so the interface on my SB16 sound card will not
work with the drive because the interface is propriatary (??spelling). I
had to change the jumpers on the controller card supplied with the drive to
get it to work in DOS. Now I am faced with the problem of trying to get
the thing recognized in Linux. I have a precompliled Kernel with the
sbpcd driver in it. This thing will not recognize it with anything I
have tried so far. I would like to compile a new Kernel with the idecd
driver in it but I cannot get it to complete the compile. I get to the
part where you make zImage and it goes to work for just a few minutes and
then halts.
My question is, how can I get the thing to compile and what is the best
way to get support for my CDROM?
Thanks for any help. Sorry I do not have the error message from the
compile handy.
if possible respond via e-mail
