RedHat 6.1 my modem and sound card don't work

Post by Brando » Sun, 31 Dec 1899 09:00:00

What is your modem set to?  /dev/modem?  /dev/cua0?   and have you tried to
manually install the sound card with the insmod command.  It goes something
like
insmod sound
insmod uart401
insmod sb io=0x220 irq=5 dma=1,5 mpu_io=0x330
insmod opl3 io=0x388

The insert module command (insmod) works wonders.  These were settings I used to
install a sound blaster.  The settings may have to be tweaked a little for your
config, but should enable you to hear sound.  The command above have to be used
in that order and must be typed the way they are shown.  The numerals may change
for your config, but again, the structure must be the same.
The last one is OPL3 by the way, not OP (thir*).  It's an L, not a 1 (one).

Let me know how it works out.  -Brandon
