X will not choose default screen resolution...

I can't get X to choose the default screen size that I have setup in my XF86Config file.  Every time
that I go into X, the screen size is always 640 x 480, and it appears that the virtual screen size
is 1024 x 768.

I have included my XF86Config file, and am running Slackware 2.3.  I really would like to get this
working.  So far everything on LINUX has gone pretty smooth, and my install has not met with any
major hitches except this one.  I have changed EVERY one of the settings in the "Screen" section no
less that 20 times, and everytime it's the same thing, no worky!

Sure! See the XFree86 FAQ or HOWTO.

Just edit XF86Config to put 1024x768 first in the list of your allowed
resolutions, or rerun whatever you used to configure (which does this
trivial editing task for you) and put your default choice first in the
list this time round.
