C-News & NNTP Question

C-News & NNTP Question

Post by Eric Merke » Tue, 19 Mar 1996 04:00:00

Is the version of C-News and NNTP that comes with Slackware 3.0
compiled to work together properly?  I've heard that you cannot
use NNTP out of the box, but must compile it with options specific
to your site.  Can anybody confirm this?

I've got C-News setup now to be able to post and read from the local
system using TIN, but I want to be able to have netscape
be able to read and post news using NNTP.  I have nntp_access
setup for netscape clients to access the server but for some
reason the clients aren't able to subscribe to groups on my
server.

I can list all the availble groups and even read from them in the
show all group mode, but after I quit and restart it, none of the
subscribed groups show.

Please CC me on any posts because I don't get a chance to read this
group all the time.  Thanks in advance!

1. C-news & NNTP ?

Hello,

I'm using C-news here and in.nntpd (comes with slackware 2.01).
The problem I have is that I can't read nor post any messages to my
nntpserver. I'm using tin 1.2 pl2 to read my news. There seems
to be a file missing too...

Can somebody help me ?

This is my /var/adm/messages file :
