Did that on RH 4.0. Still doesn't work. *sigh*

Yes, I rebuilt the kernel right. *wink*

Well I've booted DOS, ran 3c59xcfg.exe and made sure it worked. I get a
link light, the paramaters are the same as I see under linux ifconfig,
etc. There is no PnP option; I assume since it's PCI. (Built-into the
Dell OptiPlex GXPro motherboard. It's a 3c590-TPO.)

What I get when it tries to run the network startup is:

eth0: vortex_open() Internal config 000200012
SIOSIFFLAGS: Try again

When I run `ifconfig eth0` I get:

Overriding PCI latency timer (CFLT) setting of 248, new value is 255.
loading device 'eth0'...
eth0: 3com 3c590 Vortex 10Mbps at 0xdce0, 00:c0:4f:d8:81:8f, IRQ 11
Internal config register is 20012, transcievers 0xe108.
32K byte-wide RAM 1:1 Rx:Tx split, 10baseT interface.

Followed by the correct ifconfig information. If I then run ifconfig
again, the values are all zeroed out. I wait a while, do the ifconfig
again and get the same error and the zeroed values

Any help with this is appreciated.

This ended up being the fact that in slot 3, the PCI card was IRQ 11,
but when moved to slot 2, it became IRQ 10. *shrug*

Hi there,

I'm very new to linux, so please explain me in a simple way how to
configure my 3Com Etherlink III PCI (vortex) card, on a P166 machine
(intel), running Redhat 3.0.3 (kernel 1.2.13).
I tried the 3c59x.c driver already, as a module, but it still doesn't
work.. If possible : email me !

Thanks !

Gert
