RedHat 5.2 won't "workstation"

Post by Earl E. McCo » Sun, 07 Mar 1999 04:00:00

I have installed RH5.2 on my Toshiba Tecra 550CDT, in a 1.6G disk
partition. Problem is that it won't install as "workstation" but only as
"custom". Says I don't have enough disk space for "workstation".

I would appreciate any clues as how to get it to install as
"workstation".

Thanks in advance.

RedHat 5.2 won't "workstation"

Earl,
If you have already installed linux then how much space do you
have left in unpartitioned space to install the second linux
install of the workstation configuration?
It seems like your confused about what workstation is.
Workstation is just a configuration with the things an average
user might want if he wanted to use a computer but not have that
computer be the server - just a member of a group of computers.
So the workstation configuration has certain packages to do
that.
If you have loaded RH already you probaby have most of the
packages that are in workstation, may be more.
Also workstation is custom except for the packages so its a
complete load but with different packages so to load workstation
you need to have a seperate area to do that apart from your
current load.  Again is that what you want? If it is then do you
have the space?  The manual I think says the workstation load
needs 600 meg of free space to do a load - it looks like you do
not have that.
Use df or fdisk to see if you have the space to do a second
install.
