%I've been trying configure outgoing mail using sendmail on my redhat 5.1
%linux installation and having no luck at all. I'd greatly appreciate
%help.
%
%I'm using a Pipeline 75 isdn router as a gateway to my isp, configured
%so that any outgoing network traffic automatically brings up the
%connection. I'm getting name resolution from /etc/hosts (This appears to
%be working, since I can ping my isp by name). And I can send mail
%manually using 'telnet local_host smtp'.
[snip sendmail configuration - it looks correct]
%Yet mail sent from mutt (or pine, elm, etc.) does not get to the outside
%world. /var/log/maillog reports:
%
% Nov 10 19:33:36 hope sendmail[12296]: TAA12296: from=bd, size=288,
% class=0, pri=30288, nrcpts=1,
%
% ctladdr=bd (500/500), delay=00:00:11, xdelay=00:00:00,
% mailer=relay, re lay=mail.netwiz.net, stat=Deferred: Name server:
% mail.netwiz.net: host name lookup failure
Looks like a DNS problem. What's in /etc/resolv.conf?
