The VSC modem is a "Winmodem", meaning that it will only work in Windows
95. It is not really a modem, but rather a bridge between the computer's
CPU and the phone line. All modem functions are emulated in software
that cannot be reproduced in Linux due to technical, legal, and m*
difficulties.
Linux requires a standard serial modem.
