I posted this last night in response to another question.  Please check
out http://members.ping.at/theofilu/netscape.html
Lots of good stuff there on Netscape setup, bugs, and of course the
malloc problem that Netscape seems to refuse to fix.  It seems to still
be there in 4.0.

www.blackdown.org used to have a link to a patch that would
allow Netscape to run correctly with Java and everything.
After doing a reinstall of Linux and upgrading to Red Hat 4.1,
I discovered that I failed to back up this fix, "gnumalloc"
lib files or something like it. I don't recall.

I figured that this was no real problem. I could just go back
to www.blackdown.org and download the patch again. Wrong. The
link to this patch is gone.

Can someone tell me how to now get Netscape running properly
under Red Hat Linx 4.1?

I have not seen the problem with Netscape 4.0b(2?).  Have I just been
lucky? Is it fixed, or has my recent switch to Debian made the
difference?

Netscape problem occurs when you try running Java applets. Does
version 4.0b have Java support enabled?

I think so.  I'll have to check that, but I visit lots of Java enabled
sites, so I think it is ok.

1. Problem running Netscape 3.x and 4.0.3 under Red Hat Linux 4.1

I'm getting lots of EMT traps when I run Netscape and this causes
Netscape to fail
immidiately.  I have seen some people attributing this behavior to
Netscape being linked dynamically
against X11R5 libraries, but, Red Hat 4.1 only supports X11R6.  If this
is the problem, where do
I get X11R5 stuff?  If not, anyone have any ideas?
