Install Linux with LOADLIN.If you have SuSE Linux you will be asked if
you want to install LOADLIN, answer with yes.
If you are asked about partitioning the hard drives, use 'hdb' (Prim.
slave) and create 2 Partitions: 1 with ext2fs, another as swap part.

If your installation is complete you start Win95, go to DOS-MODE (NOT
DOS BOX!) and start linux with:
linux hdb1    (<-- 1st Part. on Prim. Slave)

It should work this way.

Can anybody tell me where to find info on how to install Linux onto a
brand new clean second drive.  Of course I want to be able to boot up
the Linux system from this second drive which is set up as a slave
drive.  I'm running windows 95.  Thanks for the help.

Install Linux on 2nd Drive

Not a problem, this is what I did. I have two 1.6gig hardrives, the second
is dedicated to Red Hat 4.2. I loaded all the rpms onto the first drive,
and when I started the installation program, Red Hat found them, no
problem. It then installed them onto the second drive. At the end of the
installation, Red Hat installed lilo, a boot toggeler. When I turn on my
computer I get the following prompt:

lilo:

If I do nothing, it waits 3 seconds, then boots into win95. If I type
"linux", I boot into Red Hat. Both OSs are happy as a clam. Since win95
can't read Red Hat's ext2f file system, it is completely clueless as to the
existence of another OS.

1. Linux install onto 2nd drive broke NT boot on 1st drive

I installed a 2nd disk drive into an HP Kayak that has NT on disk 0, then
installed RedHat 5.1 onto the new 2nd drive.  I followed the default
suggestion of putting LILO onto the MBR.

My Kayak now boots to the [LILO?] "boot:" prompt, and the default is to
boot Linux.  That works just fine (except that networking isn't alive,
since I couldn't figure out the correct driver for the Kayak Ethernet
interface).  But if at the "boot:" prompt I direct it to boot NT, I see
the familiar NT multiboot prompt (to choose among normal NT, NT with VGA
graphics, or
DOS), then NT starts to come up (e.g., I see the information about
running Service Pack 3), then I get the Blue Screen Of Death and a
message about an "inaccessible boot device."

I presume that something is screwed up because NT lives on drive 0 and
Linux lives on drive 1.  The NT boot seems to start to find NT (because
of the display of the Service Pack information), but somewhere early in
the bootup sequence the machine goes off into the weeds.

Any suggestions about what I can do to recover?
