1. Help me please:gcc internal compiler error:fatal signal 6/ld.so.4

: I'm getting this when trying to compile "xspim" a R2000/3000 simulator.
: The command it is failing on is this:

: gcc -o xspim_sub -g -ansi -L/usr/X11R6/lib
: a_bunch_of_files_with_.o_extensions_.o -lXaw
: -lXmu -lXExExt -lXext -lX11 -lXt -lSM -lICE -lXExExt -lXext -lX11 -lm

: and I get the error:

: ld: Output file requires shared library `libc.so.4`
: gcc: Internal compiler error: program ld got fatal signal 6

: Other stuff:
: the file /lib/libc.so.4.6.27 exists
: the file /lib/libc.so.4 -> /lib/libc.so.4.6.27 exists.

: I'm just about at my wits end with this one.
: I do remember having difficulty compiling something else for X aswell.
: The solution was to set an envrironment variable like "LD_LIBRARYPATH" or
: "LD_PATH" or "LD_LIBPATH" or somesuch.  I wish that I had put it in my
: profile.

: I need the simulator for school work.

I have had the same problem. If you do not specify "-g" option it will work
well, is my experience.
This does not solve your problem (nor mine) but at least it may get your
application compiled and it indicates the area of the problem.
