I don't know much about this subject, but keep in mind that you have a LCD >Moffet Field, CA 94035 Hm: 415-826-6402
display (most propably, anyway), and that it propably won't be able to cope with
more than one or two specific modelines, due to the fact that it is a fixed dot
matrix. Comment every modeline, except those with your display's specific
resolutions, and see if it helps. I haven't been able to find any HOWTO's about
LCD's anywhere.
