Redhat 6.1 First Boot Hang

Redhat 6.1 First Boot Hang

Post by econ.. » Sun, 31 Dec 1899 09:00:00

I am upgrading from RH 5.1 on a PackardBell
Legend 822CDT 100MHZ AMI BOIS 1992 and cannot get
to a successful boot after any of the different
types installs for RH 6.1.  I have tried several
different partitioning options and reformatted
the hard drive, but no luck.  Reinstalled 5.1
runs fine.

I do get some info at boot up that should help:

partiton check
hda: hda1 hda2 <hda5 ....... hda9>
attempt to access beyond end of drive
03:02: ew=0, want=2, limit=1
EXT2-fs: unable to read superblock
Kernel paic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:02

1. RedHat 6.1 hangs after booting into X and working in KDE or GNOME a few minutes

Hello Group !

RedHat 6.1 hangs after booting into X and working in KDE or GNOME a few
minutes.
And after that I couldn't log in from virtual terms, but I could log in
RedHat via telnet and then sometimes I could shutdown the system. ( I
have VideoCard - Cirrus CL-GD5456)

Thank you very much!
