I'm running RedHat 5.0 with XFree86, and I'd like to use it at 800*600
with 16 bit color. I'm able to do the 16 bit color at 640*480, but when
I try to run at 800*600 the monitor goes into standbye as X starts. I'm
selecting Generic Monitor, because there is no CTX 1565 on the list. If
I'm able to run at this res in Windows 95, but can't in X. If someone
could assist in the setup, I'd be very appreciative.

I'm not familiar with this particular monitor, so you should check
your manual for the timings to make sure it's capable of 800x600.
Assuming that it is, however, the problem is probably in your
sync polarity; many monitors use some combination of horizontal
and vertical sync polarity to control standby modes. The values
should be in the manual, and are set in the XF86config file.
