VFAT and win95 using 1.3.77

Post by Michael Fukat » Fri, 29 Mar 1996 04:00:00

I am running Win95 and Linux kernel 1.3.77 and I can't figure out how to
get my kernel to mount the win95 partition as a VFAT partition so I can
read the long file names.  Any help would be appreciated.

Issue the following command

mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /dosc

Be sure that you use the -t vfat option!

You may try

        mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /mnt

I assume that your Win95 is on /dev/hda1 and your kernel has VFAT support.

You have to change the line in your /etc/fstab to say vfat like this...

/dev/hda1        /mswin        vfat        defaults   1   1
                               ^^^^

I had the same prob but when I changed this it worked.  Of course, I'm assuming that
you compiled your kernel with support for vfat filesystems...

"mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /win95", will do. Make sure there is a /win95 directory or something like that..

Greetings,

Dennis.
