Kernel panic HELP!

Kernel panic HELP!

Post by BRADIC LJUBI » Fri, 24 Feb 1995 15:13:55

I have just tried to get Linux onto my 486 and I got this peculiar error
message. Anyway I have one 350 Mb drive partitioned into 2 partitions.
When Linux starts booting of the floppy it gives me this message:
"Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 02:1c"
Now I would realy PREFER not to lose my 200Mb on my C drive and for Linux
to install on D drive. Is this possible and can anybody suggest the
solution with this error message.
Thanx

1. HELP - Kernel Panic - HELP

Please Help,

I had two hard drives, one with linux(/dev/hdb, slave) and one with
dos(/dev/hda, master), i have removed my dos drive and made my linux drive
the default master (now only running one drive, linux)...however, the boot
disks that i have all expect to mount root partition on /dev/hdb1...is there
anyway to make another boot disk so i can boot linux as a single drive...
Please help as soon as possible, i'm lost without linux

Thanks
