RH5.0 -> RH5.1 upgrade doesn't help me...

Well, I have been using RH5.0 without problems since RH5.0 came out.
I run LILO and can boot to either Linux or Win95 on startup.  Each OS has
its own hard disk.

I finally purchaced the RH5.1 CD set because:

        - I needed to get fat32 support to read/write to my Win95 disk.

        - I wanted the latest g++ and libraries for advanced code
development.   The g++ compiler on RH5 was causing me
some problems  (we do a lot of OOP and template stuff).

        - General system upgrade/maintainence in one upgrade.

I just upgraded last night selecting the "Upgrade" option on the RH5.1
install program.  The process went smoothly.  My system successfully booted
up to RH5.1 "Manhatten".

Now, I have the following problems:

        - I cannot mount any fat32 partitions.

After saying  mount -t  vfat /dev/hda1 /Win95, the system will not
recognize the windoze partitions.   I have tried leaving the filesystem
parameters out, or using just "fat" or "dos", nothing works.

        - PPP no longer works.

I try to run my old scripts to dial-up and I get a message that the kernal
does not support PPP.

        - My soundcard no longer works.

I reran the setup program -- it detects my soundcard, a Soundbaster 16, but
when it trys to play a sample sound, nothing happens.

Now, I figure that all the above are probably modules missing from my new
kernal.  The Upgrade process never "asked" me about configuring PPP, sound,
or even other filesystems.  I figured that it must have tried to copy my
old kernal options -- and it did not work?

Is there anything I can do short of manually recompiling my kernal or just
wiping my Linux system and reinstalling?  Any advice is appreciated.

The kernel 2.0.34 that comes along with RedHat v5.1 does NOT support
FAT32.  I had the same problem with my FAT32 drives and mounting them.
You need to get the updated kernal 2.0.35 from www.redhat.com to get the
FAT32 support.  I don't know about the PPP and soundcard stuff...
