PAP and DIP/pppd

PAP and DIP/pppd

Post by Erik Bystr » Fri, 13 Sep 1996 04:00:00

Hey! For some time now, I've been trying to make pppd work with the PAP
PPP service my provides gives, without much success, much because I don't
really understand how PAP works. I use dip to do the dialing part.

How do I make it work? I have added the +ua /path/to/login/and/pass/file
to /etc/ppp/config. Should or shouldn't I remove the lines from my dip
script where it send the login and password? When I did that and started
pppd (from the script) as soon as the login: prompt came up, the script
just exited and hung up.

Help! Mail reply please.

1. PPPD w/ PAP not working, works fine w/o PAP

I use SuSE Linux 5.3 with the KDE windowmanager. It includes a dialup tool
called kPPP, which works great. With that you can create a script to login
which sends a LCP packet after a certain period of time to get the server to
continue. I think the KDE homepage is www.kde.org, but i'm not sure. Anyway
the SuSE online support database can propably tell you what you need. It's
on www.suse.com . Just click the support link.
