Slackware setup program died?!?

Post by Eric Min » Sat, 18 Feb 1995 05:30:29

I helped a friend install Slackware 2.1 and everything went fine.  A
couple of days later we wanted to install an addition disk set and tried
to execute the setup program.  The screen just blanked with a blinking
cursor in the upperhand left corner of the screen.  I could exit that with
ctrl-c.  All the set scripts (like netconfig) act similarly.  Anyone have
any ideas on how to fix?

I have found that in the cases where the setup program dies I have to do a
"shutdown -r now" and after the computer has rebooted the setup program works
fine.  Do not ask me what the problem is....all that I know is how to fix it.

It's the mouse driver (gpm). If you move your mouse around, the next screen
will appear. If you want to get rid of the problem, turn of the gpm before
running setup
