1. Panasonic CR-581 CD-ROM support?

I've been trying to get Linux to recognize my Panasonic CR-581 CD.
/proc/devices shows only the following block devices:
  2  fd     3  ide0

/proc/filesystems lists iso9660 as a supported filesystem.
dmesg lists IDE0 on IRQ14, but nothing for IDE1 (?) on IRQ15.
DOS loads the driver for it in config.sys as

    sbide/sys /v /d:mscd001 /p:170,15
i.e. port 170, IRQ 15.

Probing for the drive during setup failed to find anything.

a /dev/sbpcd.  None of these can be successfully used in a mount
command, though.
