Hmm, this puzzles me. I have the following scenario with RH6.0:
* First, I install it on a fairly modern machine (Compaq 450 MHz Intel
Pentium II, 440 BX chipset). The poweroff works as it should.
* Then I install it on an old 486 - the poweroff does not work,
message in log says, like you point out, no apm support in kernel.
* During the installation (using boot disc for NFS install) it did
powerdown properly. (I went for a beer ;-)
So the install kernel on the boot diskette supports apm but not the
installed kernel? Ok, but why does it work on the compaq. I did install
less stuff on the 486, is the support in a module?
Anyone out there that can spread some light over this?
