absolute no problem. Install it on your disk and run linux.
First you must check wether your hardware is running with linux.
So you need the boot - and root discs. From wich media you will install
cd-rom, the discset, or via nfs.
Bye
Tom
Hint here:
has012.desy.de is only running linux, its a 8Mb,486DX no-name PC
with et4000 and ide 730Mb Harddisc. And it work great.
Just boot up with Linux from a floppy drive and install it !Quote:> I would like to use linux as the only OS on my machine.

Scratch all partitions on your drives with FDISK and make some Linux
partitions (one Swap, one for the root, one for /tmp and /var and so on...
don't ask me of the ID's, they must be something like 80-82 !? Get further
informations in the menu of Linux's FDISK.).
Install e.g. Slackware and after that LILO. You don't NEED any other OS to
run Linux as the only OS on your machine.
In the case that you ment : Running my old applications under only ONE OS
like Linux (DOS-, Windows or OS/2-programs)... There are ways... :) (e.g.
WINE for Windows) ...
cu on the net, merlin.
