Very Computer

Hello,
I have installed  Slackware Linux distribution 3.0 in a 120 pentiun PC
with a PCI graphics card Number Nine FX motion 531.

X11R6 (version 3.1.2) works fine but when I switch from the graphics
screen to the text console or when X11 finish the monitor does not
return to the previous mode (wrong horizontal and vertical refresh
rates). I have tried with two different monitors (Sony 17SF II and CG&S
17" ergo Cariolato) with the same results. When I return to the console
text mode from a low resolution X11 mode ( i.e. 800x600 ) I get a
different synch but I still visible but if I return from a high
resolution mode (i.e. 1024x768 ) I get synch rate out of the monitors
range.
I have try the beta release 3.1.2D with the same results.

The XF86Config I use is the one automaticaly generated by xf86config
selecting the card #9 FX motion 531 (selection number 85):

Ramdac "att20c498"
Clockchip  "icd2061a"

Could somebody with this graphics card help me ??

Looking into the card I found the ramdac to be: att21c498
and the clockchip:                              ics9161a
I have tried with these values in the XF86Config without any improvement

 (programable for 6/8-bit wide lookup tables)

BTW could be a defective card ??
