Dial-in for email only

Dial-in for email only

Post by Wayne » Tue, 19 Nov 1996 04:00:00

Hi all, I am trying to setup my Linux kernel 2.0.0 server to accept incoming
login via modem.  I just need my users be able to access their email account
via Windows or WIN95.  Web or ftp is not necessary.  What kind of setup for my
modem do I need ?  Do I need to setup PPP or Slip for this purpose ?  Pop3
server is currently running in the server.  How should I go about to start this
?  Any comments are highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance...

1. Problems with dialing out when dial-ins are enabled

I'm having trouble getting dial-outs to work when dial-ins are
enabled.  I can dial out on /dev/cua1 when getty isn't running
on /dev/ttyS1, but when getty is running I get a message that
the port I'm trying to dial-out on (/dev/cua1) is in use.  I
read the FAQs and everything seems to be set up right.  What
am I doing wrong?

[I'm running SLS 1.02 (0.99pl9).]
