Mounting a Sun formatted disk on a linux system???

Mounting a Sun formatted disk on a linux system???

Post by Victor German » Thu, 05 Dec 1996 04:00:00

Hi,

We have mostly Sun (SunOS 4X) systems here.  Several people have PCs
running Linux at home.  I would like to take a disk that is formatted
and newfs'ed for SunOS and mount it on a Linux machine.  Is this
possible?  The disk is actually a Jaz disk which works fine for either
system seperately.

The Sun filesystem is 4.2 (?) system.  Is this possible???

Please email me directly since I don't always have access to
newsgroups.  If there is interest I can post a summary of replies back
to this newsgroup.

Thanks in advance.

You need to compile the kernel with support for "disk labels" and "ufs".
