I'm running Debian 'testing', and am having trouble installing
a kde program:

dank:/usr/share/doc/doc++/manual.ps# apt-get install kghostview
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
   kdelibs3 kdelibs3-bin
The following NEW packages will be installed:
   kdelibs3-bin kghostview
1 packages upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 to remove and 510  not upgraded.
Need to get 0B/6866kB of archives. After unpacking 6038kB will be used.

dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Selecting previously deselected package kghostview.
Unpacking kghostview (from .../kghostview_4%3a2.2.2-6.4_i386.deb) ...

  /var/cache/apt/archives/kdelibs3_4%3a2.2.2-13_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Is there a standard way to recover from this situation?

Wow! Never had a problem with  apt before!
But it starts right from the get-go,  doesn't it?

Try  <linux.debian.user>
