Don't want to loose win '98 docs etc.., & want Linux NOW!

Post by Kishor » Sun, 28 Feb 1999 04:00:00

Hi Folks,
I have a Cyrix MII ,128 mb, 6.4 gb HD PC.
Win'98 is loaded throughout this disk.
I have lot of stuff(docs, prgs etc..,) on my PC. I don't want to loose
them.
Is there any way that I can load Linux  to share this and make my PC dual
bootable. I want to allot 3gb to Linux and 3.4 gb should remain for MS.
Please give a detailed input if pos'
Thanx for the inputs.
Kishore

fips.  Look it up.  Use it. Love it.

Details are in the documentation, in the Linux Bible, and
on every distribution CD.  All you have to do is read.
Please come back when you have a question more detailed than
"How do I get Linux."

Another option besides fips is "System Commander".  It will allow you to
repartition your drive safely (get the win98 version).

When installing Linux choose the "custom" install.  The workstation or
server installations may mess up your windows boot -- something you are
very concerned about.  Custom isn't hard -it gives you choices and will
probably find and configure most of your hardware.  Custom install will
ask if you want to install or use LILO.

Do not install LILO.  Boot Linux with a floppy boot diskette.  Later when
you have a better handle on Linux you can use LILO.
