how to set time zone?

Post by scott holla » Fri, 17 Nov 1995 04:00:00

I guess I'm at a loss here. I know too many Unix flavors and it's
clouding my thinking...

QUESTION:  How can I set the system TIME ZONE under linux?

Don't suggest editing rc.boot and setting TZ there, or setting TZ in the
system-wide profile.  These trips don't work for cron jobs.

Any help is appreciated.  Please email.

SOLUTION:

I saw that /usr/lib/zoneinfo/localtime was referenced by time conversion
functions.  I saw that there existed a precompiled timezone database file
for my needs ('CST6CDT') so I copied it to 'localtime'.  It works fine.
