16 bits SCSI and Adaptec AHA-294X

Post by Jean Meloch » Tue, 07 Apr 1998 04:00:00

I have just connected an ultra wide SCSI disk pack
(2 x 4Gb) to my RH 5.0 Adaptec AHA-294X controller.
It boots fine and works ok, but apparently, the disks
(SEAGATE model ST15230W SUN4.2G) refuse to use 16 bits
transfers...

Anyone has a clue why this is so? Please send email.

Here is a transcript from /var/log/messages

Thanks in advance.

Jean

1. Adaptec AIC-7870W (AHA-294x) Trouble

Ok, I've tried a number of things now.

I'm trying to install RedHat 2.1, and I'm using the boot0027.img for
a bootdisk, replacing the included kernel with...
The 1.2.13 kernel with the 2940 patch applied.
  The straight 1.3.35 kernel.
And I've also tried the boot image for RedHat called 2940.img.

Nothing works.  But the hardware works fine under DOS.
I'm using an Intel motherboard with the AIC-7870W built-in (INT3180).

Here's what I'm getting on bootup (using 2940.img):
(Sorry, it won't let me scroll back up to see more)

ANY help would be appreciated!
