Ftape setup (Gateway P5-66/Colorado Jumbo 250)

Post by David J. DeWol » Thu, 02 Feb 1995 18:47:16

Greetings all;

I'm having some trouble getting ftape configured on my Gateway P5-66 with a
Colorado jumbo 250 drive. I got the 2.02 sources, and when I run the make I
get warings follows:

  ftape-ctl.c warning
    implicit declaration of function memcpy_fromfs
    implicit declaration of function memcpy_tofs

The kernel version is 1.1.59, and I do see at boot time messages regarding
ftape allocated 3 buffers aligned at 001e000. Any thoughts, suggestions,
advice, etc would be greatly appreciated.

David

I'm trying to get FTAPE to work with my FC-10/Jumbo 250 and am having
no luck.  I tried using 1.14d with a patch to stop the compiler errors
(the usual mm.h include, etc.) but when I use the mt command, the
only thing that happens is my hard drive races for a sec, I get a
5 second pause, and then a message about the device not existing.
Any ideas?  Can someone postt the relavent portion of the Makefile?

Thanks,
Bret

I have a similiar problem.  Using 1.1.59 kernel, I can compile ftape 2.02 w/o
a problem.  But when it loads at boot time I get the message
__memcpy__fromfs undefined
__memcpy__tofs undefined.

Are these things that are in a newer kernel, I have the tar of 1.1.85, but dont
have space to upgrade yet.

ftape-ctl.c needs an include for <asm/segment.h>.  That will take care of the
messages.
