ATI video card/TV out (Rage Pro) -> big-screen TV and X

Hi all -
I'm sure this sounds ridiculous, but there's another guy in our
local Linux users' group trying to do it, too, so what the hell:

My second machine (originally set up as a Windoze game system) is
set up downstairs in the family room, hooked up via an audio-video receiver
to a big-screen TV set, which it's using as a "monitor" via the TV-out
connector on the ATI Xpert-at-Play video board.  This setup works fine with
Windoze-98, as the supplied drivers are set up to handle this.  I installed
Linux on this machine recently (RH 5.2/Mandrake); the command-line
interface works fine, but of course X blows it out of the water.  I'm
trying to figure out how to set up XF86Config to work with this thing.
Anyone else out there managed to pull this off?  If so, I'd really
appreciate a copy of a working XF86Config file (or at least a couple of
working modelines - 800x600 and 640x480 would be fine)....Thanks!

I had the problem with a All in Wonder.
What I had to do was disconnect the cable going to the television.  I
rebooted and this solved my prob.  I still can not use linux with the TV
connected!!  GOOD LUCK!!

Of Course you need the Mach64 Server for the Rage Pro Cards.

1. Programming video card (ATI card w/ s-video & tv-out) Need direction to correct info

Hi,
I hope some people read this and can help me out.

I have a ATI Rage Pro pci video card that has s-video and tv-out. I want
to be able to use the s-video and tv-out on the card. Now, is this down
by the app(like what I find on Video4Linux) or is it in Xfree86?

I want to know if there has been a driver developed which accesses the
s-video and tv-out on the ATI card. If so, a pointer to the source would
be great.

If not, then I would like to know how would I go about to use the
s-video and tv-out. I just need some clarification on if the actual app
would take care of loading up the s-video interface and tv-out interface
or if it is the actual video card driver(Xfree86?).

Thanks for any help in advanced and if it isn't too much trouble, can
you also cc: you rhelp to my e-mail?

Gracias!

K.
