Might I humbley suggest you don't install Win95 at all?  Like any
first release from MicroSoft (and more than most) , it is prone to
some massive errors, some catastrophic ones, and a warning from Ralph
Nader on the highly intrusive nature of Registration Wizard,(which
sends your entire directory tree, list of programs, and version
informtion along with your voluntary registration info).

Try to the LoadLin Utility that comes with Slackware.  It allows you boot from
a DOS batch file.  From the "Starting Windows 95" message at bootup quickly
press F4 then F5.  Then run your batch file.  Also you can create a boot floppy
for Linux which completely bypasses DOS or Windows.  If you choose the LoadLin
method then Windows 95 would need to be installed first.  With the floppy
method it does not matter.  Some have gotten LILO to work but I have never
tried it myself.

You don't need a "spare" HD.  Just do it.  Works perfect for me!

I'd like to try it myself, unfortunatly I don't have the spare hard drive
on which to try it.  However, if someone is willing to loan me a hard drive
<not GIVE, just loan, you'll get it back when I'm done>, I'd be more than
happy to spend hours upon hours upon hours trying to get it to work, and
then get it added to the LILO FAQ.  Email me if you're interested.

Sure you do.  I don't have a HD on which I can install Win95.

1. Dual OS on one hdd: Win95 or Linux on the first partition?

There MUST be a DOS partition of some type as drive C:\.  You will want
to put Windows on your C: drive, which will be the first partition.  One
reason for this is that in Windows not all the initial boot parameters
are in the boot sector; some of them are in the first sector of the
drive.  I'm not sure what will happen if you try to have a non-DOS
partition as the first partition on the drive, and then having a DOS
partition as the second; if you are expirementing, why don't you try and
let the rest of us know.
