How to setup other serial ports?

I've installed an Equinox SST4 port intelligent serial board in a
RH 6.1 system.   It is recognised, and I can use the ports and a
modem connected to it with cu to dial out.

However, when I attempt to do anything like configure linux to be
aware of a modem on it, I don't see these ports.

The device names for inbound use are
        ttyQ1a1  ttyQ1a2  ttyQ1a3  ttyQ1a4

The names for outbound use are:
        cuq1a1  cuq1a2  cuq1a3  cuq1a4

What do I need to change to make stuff like linuxconf aware of
them?
