Windows '98 can't connect to Samba!

This same problem turned me upside down, too...

In /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb, edit the line
     daemon nmbd -D
to read
     daemon nmbd -D -G TripperJones

In /etc/smb.conf, may sure you include the line
     null passwords = yes
in the [global] section.

I have both Win 95 and Win 98 boxes using Linux as a file server with no
problem.

Good Luck!

I've been having the same problem lately, so I thought this was gonna
help...
What I did find out from trying the stuff in that reply is that NMBD isnt
running for me...

smb status shows that nmbd is stopped...
I've tried stopping all SMB services and starting them, as well as using the
restart option...
To no avail.
I'm relatively new to linux, so i'm still having a few teething troubles.
Anyway - any suggestions would be great.
Like where i can find an errorlog!?!?
