Driver for TEAC CD44 CD-ROM?

Post by Michael Charles Smi » Fri, 11 Dec 1998 04:00:00

I can't seem to find a driver for this CD-ROM drive. I've checked
the documentation and neither the CD-ROM HOWTO nor the UNC-Metalab
hardware compatibility site mention this drive. If anyone has written
a driver for the TEAC CD44 CD-Rom drive, I'd very much appreciate
at least seeing it...

Thanks.

It's a standard IDE drive, right?

Should be supported by the kernel as an IDE CD-ROM, I imagine...

If this is the one with the proprietary interface card, I think it's
sbpcd.o.

1. TEAC CD-55A CD-ROM driver????

I just purchased the Linux Developer's Resource (Slackware) and would
like to install Linux on my system from the CD-ROM. Unfortunately, there
doesn't seem to be a boot image that will work with the CD-55A (using the
TEAC interface card). I've tried the available boots--but none will recognize
the TEAC drive as being present.

If anyone has successfully installed Linux to use this drive, a
pointer to a boot image would be appreciated--I'm a complete Linux novice,
and the TEAC drive lacks any adequate documentation, so starting from scratch
isn't an option for me.

        Pointers _greatly_ appreciated.
