RH60: Can't connect to (xfs) X font server

The whitepapers from Redhat's homepage indicates that an X font
server is used on RH6.0. ps ax | grep xfs shows that it is
running. However, "fsinfo -s localhost:7100" reports:

_FSTransSocketINETConnect: Can't connect: errno = 111
_FSTransSocketINETConnect: Can't connect: errno = 111
...

What am I doing wrong ? I've tried everything - running xfs
manually with the -port 7100 parameter, changing the FontPath in
/etc/X11/XF86Config from unix:/-1 to tcp/localhost:7100 etc etc
etc ...

The reason why I'm trying to do this, is that I wanted to convert
some .pcf fonts into .bdf fonts using the pstobdf utility.
Suggestions are welcomed!

Thanks in advance

Michael
