Want Linux to USE a proxy server not BE a proxy server

Post by Chris Ren » Fri, 30 May 1997 04:00:00

I need to have my Linux box USE a NT Proxy server in order to gain access to
the Internet proper. By "gain access" I mean: use command line ftp,
telnet, etc... I know about netscape's proxy ability: how does IT
work?! How does the NT Proxy server work?! I've read the howto's, mini-howto's,
looked at ipfwadm, SOCKS, etc... Can someone nudge me in the right direction?

Thanks,

car.

Sure, download Socks and build it.  It'll make some libraries to be used to
proxify different clients.  You'll have to rebuild all the clients you
want to use (that haven't been already) to proxify them.  The instructions
that come with Socks are pretty good.
