Problem using pppd2.2 - KPPP (from KDE) and PPP !!!!!!!

Post by Charles Moulliar » Tue, 14 Jul 1998 04:00:00

Hi Samir,

I used Redhat 5 with KDE. When I perform a ppp connection using kppp, i
could connect to my ISP but the system use the IP address I have put on
the Eth0 device 10.1.1.1. So I could not go to Internet because I
couln't use the IP address from  the POP

Someone knows the reason of taht problem ?

Bug in ISP server config.  Tell ISP that they should fix it.  Don't
expect much - most ISP's assume all clients have Win95!

Meantime "noipdefault" PPP option as a work-round.

1. ppp using kppp on kde desktop

trying to connect to compuserve connection fails during first part of
login script expecting host name and timesout
cis gave me the following login script
expect    Host Name:
send      CIS
expect    USER ID:
send      'My ID inserted here'
send      'my password is here
expect     PPP

gateway is at default
gateway assign default route is ticked

DNS name is left blank
addresses are as given me by CIS
    disable exhisting servers is ticked

IP   Dynamic address ticked

I dare say the problem is some script I haven't written that k uses
somewhere the only one I've altered is the options-lock one removing the
word lock.  I should point out that my version of suse linux(5.3) came on
the front of a magazine so I'm a little lost for knowing even the basic
commands here, but after a week I'm still very impressed comparing it to
more commercial OS's.
