Very Computer

I have an adaptec 7860 (onboard version of the 2940) and when I
recompile the kernel and reboot, the system will not boot past the
phase where it resets the SCSI bus. (it just scrolls a line of
parameters for a few seconds and then retries to reset the bus)

The boot up kernel works fine and sees all my SCSI devices.
This has held true for all kernels up to *30

Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it? Also, how
can I tell the kernel to not reset the SCSI bus?
