How to patch kernel with 'Unfified IDE patch'

Post by Erik Kaffeh » Sun, 16 Jan 2000 04:00:00

Hi!

I'd need to install the 'Unified IDE patch', but can't find any info on
how to do it.
I tried:

</home/ekr/ide+ikd1.2.2.12.19990930.patch
can't find file to patch at input line 4
Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?
The text leading up to this was:
--------------------------
|diff -urN linux-2.2.12-pristine/CREDITS linux-ikd1/CREDITS
|--- linux-2.2.12-pristine/CREDITS      Thu Aug 26 02:33:03 1999
|+++ linux-ikd1/CREDITS Mon Sep 27 23:59:13 1999
--------------------------
File to patch:

my Kernel is 2.2.12-20, original RH 6.1

Thanks for advice

Erik

Do you have the kernel sources installed? Make sure they're accessible
in /usr/src/linux-2.2.12-pristine, whether by moving the source
directory or by making a symbolic link.

Hi!

I never got the patches to work with normal 2.2.12-20 kernel from RH
6.1. I downloaded the 2.2.14
kernel applied the patches and everything works like a swell!

Thanks a lot

1. [PATCH] patch's for vmware 2.0.4 for use with linux-2.4.8 kernel

I've applied the patch with your fixes, and I've always noticed that
VMware seem to leak a bit of memory (occording to top and ps). Running
with 128Mb in a Win2k box it started off at 161Mb process size (140Mb
RSS) and within 5 minutes it had turned into 203Mb process size (still
only 140Mb RSS). Have anyone seen similar behavior, and does anyone
have any pointers to where I can find more info on it?

mvh,
A
