Q: Is anyone actually using a Kingston KNE2100T Network card????

Post by D.. » Sat, 13 Apr 1996 04:00:00

Hello!

I am wondering if anyone is(had)using(used) a Kingston KNE2100T Network
card or a similar model from Kingston.  I already have one of these cards and
am looking to purchase another one in order to create a LAN with my linux box
and one other PC.  The main ROM (I guess the BIOS) chip is described as a
"AM79C790KC" chip.

According to the Ethernet Documentation, it appears that this chip is from AMD
and is described as the LANCE chip using the 79C790 chipset and it should work
(correct me if I'm wrong).

Assuming the card is currently installed and working in your machine(s), I
would like to know if it was difficult to configure and what was done to
actually configure it.

Any general information, tips, know-hows, bugs, etc., concerning the
installation and usage of this card would be greatly appreciated if forwarded
to this newsgroup and/or to my e-mail address.

Thanks a bunch!!!!!!

I have kne2100's in a lab.  Never did get linux to recognize them .  Twas a kludge
(though doable) to get os2 to use them.

I won't say the documentation lies.   But I tried that set of options with no results.

Ended up getting different cards.  Sorry and if anyone got it to work,
please tell me how cause I've still got them and more machines to network.

1. Q: Is anyone actually using a Kingston (KNE2100T) Network card????

(correct me if I'm wrong).

Assuming the card is currently installed and working in your machine(s), I
would like to know if it was difficult to configure and what was done to
actually configure it for LAN network use.

Any general information, tips, know-hows, bugs, etc., concerning the
installation and usage of this card would be greatly appreciated if forwarded
to this newsgroup and/or to my e-mail address.

Thanks a bunch!!!!!!
