How to rear the Linux Bible ?

Post by yair weissm » Mon, 06 Mar 1995 05:27:03

Hi all,

I have just started with Linux two weeks ago.
I downloaded the Linux Bible file (i'm not sure about the full name, since I
downloaded it to Dos and the filename shortened a bit ...
Any way, it's the 1.7Mb file, which I have decompressed to 6.4Mb file. The
problem is that I don't know how to view/print it. I understand that I have
to use Tex (?) but I don't know how. When I am trying to view it with any of
the viewers I see the text but also lots and lots of control characters.

Please help...

Thanks,
Yair Weissman.

Where did you download this from?  (Sunsite somewhere???)  This sounds
like something I need to read...

TIA

You have to use TeX to create a .dvi (_d_e_v_ice _i_ndependent file) which
can be viewed and/or printed with special programs.
I recommend getting the Slackware TeX-Disks, installing them at your system
and then you just type tex <filename.tex> or*<filename.tex>, depending
on how the thing was written. Besides, where did you get this file from?
If you can tell me, I'll probably ''compile'' it for you into a format you
wish ;-)

1. Linux: Rear Speaker don't work

Hi!
I hope someone can help me:
I have Debian 3.0 installed, using OSS, but my rear speakers don't work.
Does anyone know how to tell Linux to use them? Mixers don't
show rear speakers, I tried all of them.

thx
Daniel
