1. 3Com EtherLink III ISA (3c509b-TPO) in Plug and Play

Hi! My network card with the description above is not recognized. I get
errors like
        SIOCSIF***: No such device and
        SIOCADDRT: Network is unreachable.
I have tried disabling PnP on my DOS setup menu as per
the FAQ for 3c509b which is supported by kernel 1.2.13 which I am
running. I believe kernel 1.2.13 does support 3c509b because I could say
yes to the question (3c509?) during kernel configuration using "make
config", and many files in /usr/src/linux/drivers/net refer to at least
3c509, but how do I find that out for sure?

My network card uses IRQ 11 and ioport addresses 210h-
21fh and I am using Slackware. Would appreciate any help. Thanks,
