Dosemu compiling error

Dosemu compiling error

Post by Jasper Plaisi » Sat, 08 Jul 1995 04:00:00

We are running Linux 1.2.11 and we have just updated gcc to
gcc 2.7.0 including the libraries as far as we know (libc.so).

Before updating the compilation stuck at the emm.c routine.
Now everything goes o.k. but the last line of the Makefile
before installing..
We get a strange error saying

gcc      -Ttext 0x20000000 -o libdosemu-0.60.3 \
   -nostdlib emu.o data.o -Llib -L.  \
    -lvideo -ldosemu -lpic -ldpmi -lmfs -linit -lserial -lkeyboard -lmouse -lnet -ldrivers bios/bios.o -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lX11 -u _XOpenDisplay -lslang -lc
gcc: 0x20000000: No such file or directory
make: *** [libdosemu-0.60.3] Error 1

In the Makefile it says that this address should not be changed.
Anyone experienced something similar before?
Suggestions or any help would greately be appreciated.

Jasper and Zeger.

Dosemu compiling error

Post by Matthew W. Woodru » Mon, 10 Jul 1995 04:00:00

I tried to compile dosemu 0.60.1 last night using "make most."
After about 10 seconds I got an error message saying that it
couldn't find /usr/src/linux1-2.1/tools.version.h.  Sure enough,
said file does not exist.  Where can I get it?  I thought that
I had installed all the necessary compilier bits and pieces
from the Slackware "D" disks ...

Many thanks,

Matthew W. Woodruff

Jasper,

Are you using the version of libslang.a that comes with the
dosemu distribution? I had similar problems until I got the
source code for the slang library (available on sunsite in
/pub/Linux/ALPHA/dosemu/incoming or something) and recompiled
using the ELF gcc.

Also make sure that you uncomment the line

ELF=1

in the Makefile.

Hope this helps,

Chris.
