X WINDOWS

I just recently got the slackware version of lynux, everything installs okay, infact it even saw my atapi cd-rom drive. The problem that I am experiencing is that the X
windows portion is not working properly, I have re-installed it 3 times but to no avail, the damn thing won't go. It say that it supports my hercules vid card but i keep
getting errors upon X windows initialization. If you could help me out here it would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Ben

You have to include more info than that if you hope to get an answer
here! What are the error messages? What is the setup of your PC. What
version of Slackware/X-Win.

What errors Ben?

I have just finished installing X a few times myself. The mistake I was
making was not copying the X86Config file from its default location to
a $HOME directory. Did that and viola! X :)

You might try using xf86config. If you don't have some wierd hardware this
program should walk you through the building of your XF86Config file. You
can get more information from the HOWTO of XF86Config.

1. Graduating from window by window display to whole Sparc5 window?

I have SLiRP PPP and dxpc compression showing individual Sparc5 windows (work)
on my home PC Linux running OK but I would like to know whether it is
possible to display the whole Sun window on the Linux screen with scaled
down windows that can be focussed and enlarged?
I would like to know what the BEST practical situation is so that I can
head in that direction. ISDN is in my area if the band width is the problem.
Is it recommended to abandon Linux and buy an X terminal? If so,
any recommendations?
Thanks, Don
