Why? I've set my internal clock to GMT and choose my timezone. That's it.

I have some low-priority things in my crontab. (Reminders, actually.)
I would appreciate it if cron didn't e-mail me when something goes wrong
with these. Is there any way to do this?

Also, has anyone used cron for handling daylight savings time changes?

Spend extra time on hobby.  Get plenty of rolling papers.

Yes, redirect the output of your cron jobs to /dev/null:

1 1 * * * foo > /dev/null 2>&1

Linux should handle daylight savings time changes automatically if you system
is correctly configured.

1. crond will be stopped by changed date

I found a nice feature of the crond.  After a change (tried 9:45 ->
8:00) the stops its working.  (I've a cron line
    * * * * * date >/var/adm/crond.running
in roots crontab.)

Is it a bug or a feature?

    $ indent /usr/sbin/crond
    crond:
