libXaw.so.6

libXaw.so.6

Post by mpolse » Thu, 13 Mar 1997 04:00:00

?Hi all,
Lately I've been having problems with applications not being able to
load libXaw.so.6. The library is there and it's linked to libXaw.so.6.0.
Everything checks out with ldconfig, and the path is even listed in
ld.so.conf. Any suggestions? I?previously installed libneXtaw and had it
linked to libXaw.so.6, I had some problems with it, then reestablished
the link. Now it doesn't work.
Thanks ahead of time,
Mark

Hi

I've had that problem too. With a brand new Slackware installation. Bo
libneXtaw installed, though. I've copied the library from another
installation, re-established links, everything fine. But I'm still
wondering how the hell it was possible....... The guy I copied the lib
from, didn't have a clue either.

If you need the lib, give me a mail.. and arrange it further.

Cheers,

Jeroen

I've got the same problem.  I downloaded the files from the XFree86 site
and installed them from floppies.  Do you think there is a corrupt file
circulating?

file name of shared library is not the same as library name (wich
is defined at linking stage)... when you compile libneXtaw, at
the end it does gcc ... -soname=libneXtaw.so.x ... recompile it
end change the command by ... -soname=libXaw.so.6. It works
for me (tm).

How can we find out such a file is corrupt indeed?
Maybe we should find out on which packages is corrupt. I take it for
granted that slackware compiles the libs themselves. So that would make
one conflict or so??????

Any suggestions??

1. fatal: libXaw.so.5: can't open file: errno=2

I have compiled several X contrib apps that give me the following error upon executing:

 ld.so.1: xmorph: fatal: libXaw.so.5: can't open file: errno=2
 Killed

Just wondering what exactly this means (looks like it can't open, but i don't
think there is a permission problem ...), and how to fix it (if possible).
